Jaguar Land-Rover

In 2004, The Matchett Group (TMG) were chosen by Jaguar/Land Rover (JLR) to design and deliver a Leadership programme for First/Middle Managers across the organisation.

JLR are commited to providing a supportive team-working environment in which each individual’s needs are respected. They operate in a culture of personal responsibility and active collaboration, and they need managers who can work and thrive in such an environment. One in which they are motivated to maximise their own potential, but also in which they enable others to reach theirs as well.

So, before we embarked upon designing such a programme to support this, in conjunction with JLR, we conducted a full Training Needs Analysis (TNA). During the TNA over 60 managers were interviewed by TMG. Once all the data had been collated and analysed, the process of designing the course began.

Based on the TNA results a programme was designed that consists of four core components, including an in-depth covering of leadership skills & behaviours, commitments to personal development plans, and 1-2-1 coaching incorporating 360 degree feed-back. In addition a coaching session with the facilitator & line manager takes place, and later a ‘Learning Reinforcement Day’ completes this thorough programme.

Over the 6 years that Matchett have delivered this programme the content has been continually reviewed and small adaptations to reflect business changes have been made. This programme continues to run on a regular basis and receives consistently positive feedback from delegates and their managers.
