Growing, but for how long?

After being triumphant at gaining business in previously uncharted waters overseas, you would think the biggest challenge would be over for emerging market multinational companies, and they could sit back and reap the rewards. Think not! It’s not a time to be complacent, as findings of a new Ernst & Young survey revealed that companies enjoying rapid growth in international markets are struggling to build effective international management teams, struggling to combat cultural differences, experiencing conflicting internal perceptions of talent management, difficulties in balancing global and local talent, and have a lack of a reliable leadership pipeline.
So not only is cultural awareness a key factor for businesses working internationally, it’s also about building and retaining effective international teams who have extensive local knowledge and experience. Matchett Group has a variety of courses in our portfolio relating to these issues and can tailor a course to meet your organisation’s exact needs.
Some examples of our relevant courses are:
Managing Across Cultures
Misinterpretations occur primarily when we lack awareness of our own behavioural rules and project them on others. In absence of better knowledge we tend to assume, instead of finding out what a behaviour means to the person involved, e.g. a straight look into your face is regarded as disrespectful in most Asian countries. This course addresses these issues straight on and illustrates how sometimes we have to step outside of our cultural boundaries in order to realise the impact that our culture has on our behaviour.
Employee Retention
This practical workshop champions the cause for retention through engagement, as opposed to retention via response – prevention rather than cure. Delegates will explore the costs of replacing employees, what makes someone disengage from their organisation and how you categorise employees within any retention strategy.
Managing Remote Teams
As the world continues to flatten and organisations become increasingly global, team leaders need to be adept at shepherding geographically-spread individuals into a cohesive team unit. This course will help delegates lead teams that deliver consistent results across multi-site and multinational environments. They will also learn how to manage the collaboration of remote teams via the most effective communications and enhance productivity by balancing technological and human resources.
