Ground Force / Changing Rooms

This event is a high motivator, as it allows you and your team to create something permanent and of real value to the community. When your team’s efforts are focussed on creating something that you all feel is worthwhile, your collective power can be amazing. The challenge of course is to find similarly worthwhile projects when back at work.

This event relies on resourcefulness as much as on physical hard work. It’s about enlisting support from others who are in a position to help you, and as such is an exercise in influencing, negotiating and planning as much as it is about project management.

By the end of this event, you will:

• Know how to increase the effectiveness of team collaboration
• Understand how to exploit your peers’ contributions and unique perspectives
• Be able to analyse how your communication styles are helping or hindering your ability to work as a team
• Know how you manage conflict and change under pressure
• Create personal learning plans for improving yourself and your team

By the end of this event your team will have transformed this area into something of lasting value to the community which is your customer. You have a £50 kick-start budget: Anything else you need you will have to negotiate for. You will hand the project over to the community at the deadline, when we are expecting media coverage. Please arrange for one of the team to act as spokesperson.
